Antique Baby Bottles by Samuel Callett, 1947, Complete set of 5, in Gift Box.Antique Baby Bottles by Samuel Callett, 1947, Small mouthed, Complete set of 5, in box, from area of Pittsburgh, Pa. The original set of 5 different designs [The Circus Train, Red; Da Da the Clown, Blue; Robbie Yum Yum, Brown; Goosey Gander, Yellow; and Peter Rabbit, Light Blue] are all included in the original gift box, which measures 14’’ x 7.5’’ x 2.25’’, and has one split corner.
This set was given to a family with a new baby in the area of Charleroi, Pa, in about 1947. It was a gift from C L Melenyzer Co, Furniture Dealer, to encourage the new parents to consider the purchase of furniture from his store. These are small-mouthed bottles that were only produced for a few years (late 1940s, early 1950s) so these are at least 70 years old. The glass is clean and solid, no chips or cracks, and best of all the graphics are still complete and quite vivid on each bottle. What an attractive display these make. I’ve had them for years, stored in the original box, never out where they could be seen and enjoyed, so they are as good as new, and show no evidence of ever being used. Examine the photos, then decide how you would display these, then bid, please. The bottles are 6.75’’ tall, 2.25’’ wide, and 1.75’’ front to back, they are flat on front and back, and have ridges on the sides to ensure they won’t slip out of your hands. They are also graduated in ounces up to 8, and bear the hallmark of Knox Glass on the bottom, a “K” in a Keystone, for the Keystone State, Pennsylvania.
I've included one photo taken through the bottles from the back to illustrate how clean and bright they are.
